First Chapter

Alright, its time for me to create a new blog to share my thoughts and knowledge on the world. Although not a fantastic writer, I would really love to see my blogstat rising because i want people too see what i’m writing for the next few months and even years. It all started when i first came across the book ‘Emergency Sex – and other Desperate Measures’, indeed a suggestive title which I see many eyebrows raising when i hold it on the train. Its a collation of three UN workers experiences in Cambodia, Haiti, Bosnia, Somalia, and so on. I’m totally hooked to this book and jealous of what they can do to assist the world for the slightest sense as a doctor or laywer. Of course, I’m incapapble to be what docotor or laywyer so all i can do is share.

Now that i have read more and more books, seen more and more news, i am enraged with the world and international organizations, even UN. Knowing that people are dying everyday because of the lack of justice really upset me. I believe anybody out there would feel the same if they are exposed to what I’m reading , its just like everybody feel bad knowing that innocent lives were taken in 9/11 attack. However, the problem is hardly anybody understand the truth, including me who is still struggling to understand the whole picture. Sometimes, i know that what I did is wrong and is exploiting the poor , but growing up in this society, its really hard for me to have a complete change. At least I know, and I try. However, looking at Singaporeans, I feel fucking sorry, that our government has excluded so much knwoledge. We were taught Confucius values like respect and sympathy, but what does it really help? Help us to feel sorry for the poor and donate money? So whats next?We go to the shopping centers and make more purchases which give the international brands more money who at the same time, go to developing countries, make use of their cheap labour and pollute their envionrment there. Or is our donated money sufficient for them to buy reasonable amount of food? Just imagine, Mexico produced tomato but US corporations took them and processed them and tadahh – we have ketchup. Who buy the ketchup? How much ketchup can US citizens consume? In the end, US need to sell the ketchup to Mexico; any simple-minded person would understand the evil scheme behind this trade.

We all have time, we don’t have to conform to the society or government pressure to make ourselves dead busy. In our leisure time, if you can even visit XiaXue blog (apologies, she’s one of the few useless blogger i can think of) or go online shopping (which I’m guilty of as well), read up whats going on, and do your part to help.
